I have a passion for helping people heal their hearts and their minds. Life can be difficult and challenging at times. We need each other to help process painful situations while gaining new insights on how to deal with overwhelming problems. As humans, we were never meant to walk alone and I feel honored to walk alongside my clients where ever they are in their journey. Having gone to counseling to process my own trauma, I can relate to the bravery it takes to seek out help and make a change.
I practice from a person-centered, relational, and trauma perspective. That means that I see every human being as unique and divinely made. You are here on purpose and for a purpose! However, our life experiences and relationships can sometimes cause disruption, pain, or disappointment. We can feel stuck and need help getting unstuck. This trauma can be healed through a safe, compassionate, non-judgmental therapeutic relationship, which I strive to provide for my clients. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), an evidence based treatment for PTSD. Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialectal Behavior Therapy are also modalities that I utilize when appropriate. Every client is different and we will tailor make your therapy and goals to match your needs.
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Texas A&M University. At that time, I had taken a psychology class and felt so connected to the information although life’s unexpected twists and turns prevented me from being able to pursue a degree in psychology. I am grateful that God completed His work and calling in me at a later date when I was able to receive a Masters of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Houston Christian University. I graduated with the highest designation of Summa Cum Laude and am a member in good standing with the American Counseling Association.
I have been married since 2003 and have two young adult daughters. I love reading books, all things music, laughing, outdoor walks, and spending time with my loved ones.
