I am a Texas Licensed Professional Counselor and Supervisor. My areas of specialty are betrayal trauma, anxiety, depression, interpersonal relationships, self-esteem, life transitions, grief, and parenting. I work with women, married couples, and families.
I received my designation as a certified clinical partner specialist (CCPS) after completing APSATS (the Association of Partners of Sex Addicts Trauma Specialists) training and all the requirements for certification in betrayal trauma. In addition, I completed the Deceptive Sexuality & Trauma Clinical Considerations training sponsored by The Institute for Sexual Health and Dr. Omar Minwalla. My clients are individuals and couples who have experienced deceptive sexuality and the associated trauma, including integrity abuse. This can be in the form of sex addiction, pornography addiction, physical and emotional affairs, and other types of sexual integrity issues.
I find great joy in walking alongside and empowering women and couples as they navigate through the trials, frustrations, stresses, and tragedies of life. I enjoy helping my clients heal from their pain, and then watching as they ultimately find joy in the redefinition of their lives.
It is my belief that the therapeutic relationship is the most powerful component in successful counseling. My goal is to see each client as Christ sees them which is valuable, precious, and worthy of respect and dignity. I strive to create a counseling environment that is one of peace, acceptance, and hope.
The therapeutic techniques and tools I select are specific to each client and from a variety of theories. I believe we are to be God’s ambassadors in our dealings with others and that God is using me to confirm to people that He is at work bringing hope and restoration amid life’s challenges. Although I am a Christian, I am sensitive to meeting people where they are in terms of their spirituality. I integrate Biblical principles, prayer, and scripture into all my techniques when approved by the client.
As part of my trauma work, I utilize EMDR. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a technique to aid in trauma resolution. For my work with married couples, I have completed training in EFCT (Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy) and training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
Finally, I am a TBRI practitioner. Trust Based Relational Intervention is an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention which addresses childhood abuse, neglect, and/or trauma.
I received my Master of Arts degree in Christian Counseling from Houston Baptist University in 2010. My undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in marketing from the University of Texas. My professional memberships include APSATS, the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC), and EMDR International Association (EMDRIA). I spent eight years as a commercial real estate broker before leaving the workforce for 20 years to raise my three sons. I have been married since 1987 and enjoy salt-water fishing, running, reading, and spending time with friends and family.
