Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2
Life can be hard at times, but it was never God’s intention for us to walk these difficult and often painful places alone. As a therapist, I seek to journey with hurting people to help them gain skills to cope with life’s challenges, discover unknown strengths and derive meaning from dilemmas and disappointments. My desire is to see individuals find healing and wholeness through their relationship with Jesus Christ and to walk in the fullness of who God designed, created and purposed them to be.
Since obtaining my license from the State of Texas in 2015, I have worked with individuals, couples and groups whose lives have been disrupted by anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, grief and trauma. I am certified as a clinical partner specialist (CCPS) through The Association of Partners of Sex Addicts Trauma Specialists (APSATS) and have been privileged to journey with a number of women whose lives have been disrupted by a loved one’s sex addiction and/or compulsive sexual behavior. As a CCPS, I work from a trauma perspective (rather than a co-addict perspective) and seek to help women discover their truth, grieve and heal from their losses, and reclaim their lives. I have also been trained in EMDR therapy and am currently a CSAT (Certified Sex Addiction Therapist) candidate.
My goal is to accept clients unconditionally and to provide a safe and non-judgmental environment for them to explore, process and gain freedom from the issues that hinder them from living the abundant life that God intended. I am committed to providing clients with practical tools and strategies that can be immediately applied, while also working with them to identify and process underlying issues that are contributing to pain, hurt and discontentment. Towards that end, I utilize Biblical truths and a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Gestalt methodologies, EMDR and mindfulness strategies.
I received my Master of Education in Counseling from the University of Houston-Victoria in December 2014. Prior to pursuing my LPC, I worked in corporate America as a commercial banker for 30 years. I have been married since 1992 and am the mother of two adult daughters and am the “Mimi” of two beautiful grandchildren. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, spending time with friends and family, and Jazzercising.
