Hi there! My name is Casie (KC). I have been a Christian counselor since 2016. I enjoy working with women, children, adolescents, and couples. I have experience counseling clients through many struggles such as depression, anxiety, grief/loss, marriage/relationship issues, divorce, co-parenting, school related issues, and blended family issues. I also love to work with children.
I began my initial career in 2005 as an elementary teacher. I taught 5th grade and 1st grade for several years. I loved being a teacher, although, my heart was secretly yearning to be a counselor as well. I am certified as a school counselor in the State of Texas in addition to holding a professional counseling license (LPC) as well. I provide Child Centered Play Therapy for ages 3-10, helping them use their natural language of play to support their developmental and mental health needs. I am a member of the Association for Play Therapy and the Texas Association for Play Therapy.
My faith in Christ is very important to me, and it has been the overall and greatest agent of change in my life since becoming a Christian in 2011. I meet my clients where they are spiritually, and we work together from that starting point. I take a non-judgmental, encouraging, and supportive stance toward each client and unique situation. I also utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with my clients helping them challenge and change unhelpful thoughts and learn practical self-help strategies. I believe the client/therapist relationship is key to feeling safe and making progress in therapy. I will do my very best to help you feel safe, supported, and valued.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies (2005) from The University of Houston-Victoria. I also have a Master of Education in Counseling (2013) also from UHV-Victoria. I hold a LPC license in the State of Texas, and I am licensed as a Registered Play Therapist from Association of Play Therapists (APT).
I have been married since 2011, and my husband and I have a blended family. We have 6 children (3 adopted and 3 biological). My husband and I have served as foster parents as well. We have a huge heart for ministry and missions in the church. Currently, my husband and I serve in ministry position together, and we absolutely love it! In our downtime, we enjoy family outings, watching our teenage son play football, and family movie nights.
