I believe that people were created to live fully. This fullness embodies a person’s mind, body, and soul. Often, we come to therapy when one (or multiple) of these aspects is lacking. With clients, I take a holistic perspective, accounting for each of these aspects. I feel God’s calling on my life to be a counselor, and I steward this calling very seriously.
I see clients ages 12 through adulthood. I have experience and a passion for treating those dealing with anxiety, grief and loss, life transitions, low self-esteem, and spiritual and faith issues. I meet clients where they are at when they begin the counseling process, as I realize that coming into counseling can be an intimidating endeavor. In our first couple of sessions together, I will work with a client to establish goals for counseling. I want to ensure that the counseling journey is as long as it needs to be, but not any longer than it needs to be.
I have a Bachelor of Arts from Baylor University with a double major in Psychology and Religion, and I earned a Master of Arts from Houston Baptist University (now Houston Christian University) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am trained in EMDR, an approach that is useful in treating trauma. I am also a member of the American Counseling Association.
When I am not counseling, I enjoy exploring restaurants around Houston, exercising or being outside, serving at my local church, and spending time with my husband and our golden retriever pup. As a native Houstonian, it is an honor and a joy to serve the community that formed me.
