I believe God has created each us with the desire to succeed in relationships and fulfill purpose in life. Suffering, pain, problems and challenges are a part of our journey, but they do not need to define our identity and future. My therapeutic approach is collaborative, empathetic, nonjudgmental, and relaxed. I strive to provide a safe-supportive environment for you to share your experience and to feel heard. My hope is that we can work together to overcome the past, move you toward your goals, and most importantly thrive in life.
My clinical experience includes both individual and couples work. My passion is assisting couples with challenges related to relationship conflict, communication, pre-marital, and intimacy/sexual health. I have experience with adults and older adolescents working through trauma (small/large), PTSD, depression, anxiety, shame, and grief. My past clinical experience has allowed me the opportunity to work with a variety of populations including survivors of domestic violence, sexual abuse, and sexual assault. Prior to being led to the counseling field I worked 20+ years in the Human Resources field.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Letourneau University and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Houston Baptist University. I practice counseling in the State of Texas as an LPC Intern supervised by Gerald W. Ford Sr., M.Div., M.A., LPC-S.
I utilize a variety of different therapeutic approaches based on the needs of each client. I have extensive training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), which is a scientifically proven psychotherapy that enables people to heal from symptoms and emotional distress resulting from disturbing life experiences. I am trained in The Gottman Method, which is a scientifically proven therapy for couples where primary focus is on emotions, skill building for managing conflict, developing new skills for enhancing friendship, and helping the couple to create a shared meaning together. I am also a certified Prepare/Enrich Facilitator, which is proven assessment based program with a history of assisting couples improve relationship skills. I am an active member in The American Association of Christian Counselors and The Houston Community for Emotionally Focused Therapy.
I am married with two children, two dogs, and one cat. We are active members of our church and spend most of our time with the children’s extra-curricular activities. When time permits, we love to play golf and travel.
