I work with children ages 3 to 11, adolescents, and adults. I have extensive training in play therapy and child parent relationship therapy, parent consultations, and crisis counseling. In addition, I have worked in a university counseling center, school, church, non-profit agency, and group practice settings. I have experience in working with ADHD, anger, anxiety, depression, domestic violence, grief, parent-child relationships, peer relationships, sexual assault, school issues, social skills, and trauma.
As a parent, you want the best for your child and care so much for their well being. However, sometimes you and/or your child may go through a difficult time or face an unexpected hardship at home, school, or another setting. If you are a parent seeking support, there is hope. As a LPC Associate with extensive training in play therapy, I can provide a safe space for your child to express their thoughts and feelings. I am strongly desirous of you receiving all the information and resources to help you better understand your child’s development and strengthen the bond in your relationship with your child. I have a passion for working with children and adolescents and encouraging others. I would love an opportunity to come alongside you in your journey and support you and your child.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Family and Child Development and a Master of Science in Counseling, and I practice counseling in the State of Texas as an LPC-Associate supervised by M. Elsa Soto Leggett, Ph.D., LPC-S, RPT-S.
My focus for counseling is Child-Centered Play Therapy. I believe in the power of the relationship and seek ways to incorporate expressive arts, sand tray therapy, and various therapeutic activities along with this style of counseling. As 1 Timothy 4:12 states, “Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young…” I believe that understanding the development of children grows my appreciation for them at their stage of life and helps me connect with them on their level; it can also help strengthen the therapeutic relationship as well as the bond between a parent and their child.
My spiritual gift is encouragement. I desire to come alongside parents and explore ways to strengthen this precious relationship that has been given by God. I seek to understand you and your child, encourage you, and find ways to collaborate with you.
I have a certification as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) from the National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc. I am a member of the American Counseling Association.
I am married and enjoy traveling, going to the beach, painting, and watching historical dramas such as Masterpiece.
