I received my Masters Degree in Counseling from the Houston Graduate School of Theology and have a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from the University of Texas. I am licensed by the State of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor.
I view psychotherapy as a collaborative process, and building and nurturing relationship is my strength. As a therapist with the Houston Center for Christian Counseling, I believe that one’s relationship with God can be a powerful and potentially transforming force in our lives. I would welcome integrating faith and resources into our counseling process if you so choose.
I work with adults and adolescents addressing difficulties such as anxiety, panic, grief, depression, parenting issues and divorce recovery. I assist with stress management, decision making, life transitions, interpersonal relationships, assertiveness and communication skills.
I have special training in the treatment of anxiety and am a member of Anxiety Disorders Association of America. I facilitate support groups that assist in the recovery of individuals with depression and bipolar disorder. I also facilitate a Caregivers Support Group for family members and others who are seeking ways to best support a loved one with a mental illness diagnosis.
In addition to time honored methods of clinical intervention, I weave in other techniques based on the burgeoning research regarding our body-mind intelligence. I am passionate about the process and potential for therapy. I respect the capacity of my clients to take charge of and align their lives with their chosen vision and goals and a rewarding aspect of this work for me is seeing that happen.
I am married and have two grown stepsons and a daughter who is recently out of college.
