Counseling is a journey worth taking and one I am honored to walk along with you. God has called us to “cry with those who cry and rejoice with who rejoice,” and that is my goal as a therapist and Christian counselor. I believe that change and healing is always possible through Christ, no matter how deep the hurt or confusion runs.
I have worked with a variety of individuals and families from children to the elderly in both the private practice and in-patient hospital settings. I have experience with adolescents and adults in areas of anxiety, depression, OCD, cutting, life transitions, trauma, grief, substance abuse, and family issues. I have training and experience in play therapy for children as young as four years old. Further, I have worked with couples in marriage counseling and am a certified Prepare/Enrich Facilitator.
I use a variety of therapeutic techniques and perspectives with individuals depending on their circumstances, but mainly counseling from the Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) perspective and the Person-Centered perspective. I believe CBT is very helpful as it teaches individuals how to refocus their thinking on the truth, which sets them free from living by their emotions.
I have a Masters in Professional Counseling from Liberty University in Virginia. I am happily married and enjoy spending time with my family, running, hiking, and good food.
