Gerald joined the Houston Center for Christian Counseling in 1989, coming from a pastoral background which began in 1970. His preparation includes a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Seminary and a Master of Arts in psychology from Houston Baptist University. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. He and his wife Billie are certified Couple Communication instructors, presenting Couple Communication Workshops several times each year. Most of his experience has been with adults and adolescents dealing with a variety of issues including marriage, family, divorce recovery, self esteem, sexuality, anxiety, depression, relationships, communication, and assertiveness. He believes that the teaching of scripture has always been relevant to personal life and relationships, that Christ is the Creator of life, and that He has made us for relationships with Himself and with each other.
