Blended Family Issues
It is
becoming more and
more frequent
that divorced singles remarry and bring two sets of children into a new
family.
Not only can these new families have all the typical
problems of communication and relationships skills – but they
can
bring whole new sets of problems: torn loyalties, jealousy
issues. There can be a great deal of anger, confusion, grief
and
loss for the children. The child who was the oldest or
youngest
in their sibling group may have lost that role with the blended sibling
group.
There may be problems with the “ex’s”
left
behind who still want a say in their children’s life.
New questions arise: Who do I have to obey? Why do we have to
move away
from my friends, my home, and my school? What rules do I have to
follow? Why do I have to obey (him or her) they are not my
real
parent? Will I get to see mom or dad like I did before? Why
do I
have to share my room with my new brother or sister?
Blended Family Counseling can help bring healing into a family by
providing a safe place for issues to be discussed. Communication and
relationship skills can be taught and a new family can be formed with
love, respect and healing.
Psalm 127:1 - Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in
vain who build
it; unless the LORD guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.
We can help...with His help.
